SWE-19 - Reiter Regiment

Reiters in Swedish service were divided, depending on the type of recruitment, into national and mercenary reiters. National reiters were organized into seven regiments (four Swedish and three Finnish) and were all volunteers. A national regiment included 8 companies, theoretically each should number 125 privates and 13 officers, but actual strength was far from those numbers. Mercenary regiments on the other had were usually made up of Germans. The composition and organization of the regiment depended on the contract that the owner concluded with the Swedish Crown. Usually they included 8 companies, although not so numerous as in case of national regiments, but there were also regiments including only 2-4 companies, and even independent companies.

Note: Apart from being used as a reiter regiment figures from this set can be a perfect supplement for the Swedish Skirmish Force (SWE-12), or be used as the second of the Swedish skirmish forces (cavalry). Moreover these figures can also be used for other armies, such as Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Brandenburg, Denmark, Gda?sk, Courland and the Holy Roman Empire. You will find details in the unit descriptions.
