Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, Vicomte de Turenne
Known simply as Turenne, he was a Huguenot (French Protestant) who became a Marshal of France in 1643 and one of only six marshals ever promoted to the top rank of Marshal General of France. His fifty-year military career included service under Louis XIII and Louis XIV.
